Is There Such Thing As Coincidences And Bad Luck?

Do you think that there is such thing as coincidences, luck or lack thereof? Well, a lot of people do.

However, I am here to tell you that there is really no such thing as a true victim of coincidences or what people call bad luck.Β  Coincidences have in fact, a much deeper root that people just can’t see or don’t want to see.

Why do People Believe in Coincidences and Luck?

There are several reasons why people believe in coincidences and luck factor.Β  The first reason is that they don’t know any better because that’s what they’ve been told since childhood, and they have never tried to investigate if this was actually true or not.Β  The second reason is that they believe that some people might be special and do get better omens than others for whatever reasons.Β  And last, but not least, they have no clue about how the laws of the universe work, namely the law of attraction and other related universal laws.

Those are really the three main reasons why so many people do believe in coincidences and luck.Β  What about you?Β  Let’s see if we can eliminate each of those reasons one by one, and if I can help you see something you might have never seen before.

What you Were Taught from Generation after Generation

I don’t know about you, but I grew up being taught that some people seem to always fall into the right coincidences all the time, while others seem to be falling in bad ones all the time as well.Β  The education on the subject stopped right there, however.Β  Never was I ever told WHY this may be so.Β  It’s just the way it was.Β  Most of us as children will not question those things, and just take them and accept them as is (even though I personally didn’t after a while).Β  This is why many people who have been taught that there is such things as luck or lack thereof will just take it and never question it.

Are Some People Just Lucky?

To make matters worse, I bet you were also told that some people are just lucky.Β  Somehow, they might just be very special and everything they do turns out right.Β  On the other hand, you have those unfortunate individuals that were born under a bad star, somehow, and everything they touch turns into you know what! Β If you grew up hearing this, chances are you are going to adopt and believe this concept until it becomes your own.

The Truth Behind Coincidences and Luck

Now there is something that not too many of us have been taught and it’s the law of reciprocity, the law of attraction and the world of energy and vibrations that we live in.Β  I don’t know about you, but I know that I was never taught about these at all. Β If you go back only twenty years ago those things where known to only a small Β group of people.Β Β  Thankfully, today, because of the avalanche of information that’s available to us, more and more people are becoming aware and looking for answers to such questions.

What the law of reciprocity and attraction say, in a nutshell, is that what you send out is what will get back to you.Β  If you wanted to put a picture to it, you could compare it to a boomerang. No matter where you are going to stand when you throw that boomerang it will get back to you at the same force you’ve sent it, no matter what.Β  You’ve been doing this your all life.

Understanding Energy and Vibrations

Everything you see around you is energy. Everything. The only difference between us humans, a tree, or the chair that you are stetting on is that it’s energy at a different frequency.Β  You can’t see energy, but it does exist.

Sound is energy too, and some sounds exist at a level of energy that it’s not perceivable to human ears, but dogs and cats, for example, can hear it.Β  This is a good proof that it’s not because we can’t hear a sound it doesn’t exist.

The energy that attract or repulse two magnets can’t be seen literally, but it’s there as it obviously pulls or pushes the two magnets.

If everything is energy, that includes thoughts.Β  Yes, thoughts are energy too, and they do tend to act like a magnet.Β  People who have chronic negative thinking tend to have chronic negative experiences in life. And that includes anything and everything; who they meet, what jobs they get, how the job will turn out for them, the partner they will end up in marriage with, and their overall success or lack thereof.Β  The problem is that those people will spend their whole life noticing the results of their overall thought process, but never realizing that all the negative that happens to them, really started with them. Β Believe me, I know, it’s tough to admit.

Then, what people do is look at someone else who has a lot of positive things happening to them and they call them lucky.Β  The truth is that this person works on a 180Β° totally different type of energy.Β  They tend to think positive on a regular basis and take the appropriate actions that overall positive thinking tends to guide them to take.Β  Truth be told, there are not lucky at all, they are just using the powerful energy of the universe for their own good.Β  That’s what makes them β€œlook lucky” to some people.

How do you Create your Own Reality?

This is why there is no such thing as good coincidences and luck. Bad coincidences and bad luck are just the results of what type of energy you’ve been sending out through your thoughts and overall feelings and emotions that thoughts induce (even if you are totally unaware of it). If, unfortunately, such energy was of a negative nature, chances are that you will run into negative coincidences and β€œbad luck”.Β  If on the other hand, you’ve sent out good energy with your thoughts and words, chances are that positive coincidences and β€œluck” will be yours.

Once you’ve become aware of this simple universal truth, you’re all outlook and results in life and business will change for the best.Β  You will finally come to understand that you can create your reality.

  1. Wonderful post Sylviane!

I totally agree with what you have written, though never really realized the finer details till I read them now. I did write a post recently if you remember about the luck factor in our lives, though that wasn’t as good as yours. πŸ™‚ But yes, it did talk about there be nothing called as luck, it is what you create yourself.

Yes indeed, the LOA and Karma is something I believe in myself a great deal, so remaining positive is always the key. What you give – comes right back to you. Positive energy attracts positive thoughts, while the negative energy or even if you have people around you with negative energy – it shows it’s effect on the surroundings and you.

Oh yes! Sometimes people blame their good fortune or misfortune on coincidence and luck. I remember even my friends Granny was a lot like that. And she would keep cursing my friend for being the cause of her own mother’s demise. It was so sad to see her go through hell those days. I wonder though if her bad negative energy would have brought her bad luck and coincidence. Does it always work that ways or perhaps it does in most of the cases.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful post that reminds us to always be positive, think positive and send out positive energy’s to bring good coincidences and luck to our life. πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Harleena,

Thank your for coming here today again and giving your rich feedbacks on the post.

You know that’s interesting, I also know some people who have blamed someone in their family for the death of their mother, but who is to tell? I also have been the witness of some people who, it’s clear to me know, have brought on the very diseases that eventually killed them. It would take way too long for me to explain why I know this, but I just do.

I also know some extremely happy and positive people who have literally never attracted a bad day in there life. So, yes I do believe this to be the case if not a 100%, well a good 99.9%.

You know, the laws of the universe are EXACT and that is based on such laws that we can send space ships to space and back. Let’s never forget this πŸ™‚

      Thanks for coming, Harleena πŸ™‚

  2. Sylviane, you KNOW I’m all over this article! πŸ™‚ I’ve written about this very thing before (about why some people are “lucky”) and it’s boils down to exactly what you said – “what you send out is what will get back to you…”

I usually say, “It’s about choices we make daily and synchronicity that propels us towards those β€œlucky” opportunities.” πŸ™‚

  3. Hey Sylviane,

Boy, are you ever right! I think for the most part we all grew up believing this way.

I use to work for a guy and our CPA use to always tell me how lucky my boss was. I told him that luck had nothing to do with it that he planned his own luck. Now back at that time I had no clue about the law of attraction or energy. I just knew that we all made our own “luck” if you want to call it that.

I listened to a fabulous audio series not long ago that really helped me understand why some bad things happen to good people. That if you are thinking negative things then negative things will come into your life. I always tell people how blessed I am but I don’t dwell or think about negative things. I thank God every single day for everything in my life including people and things. I truly feel so blessed to have what I do and be where I am. I’m only attracting more of that into my life because of my own thoughts.

This really does work but you have to believe in what you think. You have to KNOW that you’re worth it. You have to believe that good things can come your way. You can actually make them happen too.

Thanks for sharing this post. I love this topic. I’ll be sharing this with my friends and readers as well.

    Have a great day!

Good for you girl to have known this about luck before you even knew about the things you know now.

I know that for years I just believed what everybody around me were saying, but eventually it was no longer sufficient to me, and started to question a lot of things.

I think that when people are saying he or she is lucky when looking at someone successful is to camouflage their own incompetence.

  4. Nice blog post here Sylviane. After I started learning more about the laws of attraction and the laws of the universe – my outlook on life changed dramatically. I realized that while we don’t have total control over the world or other peopel, we do have more control than we realize and what we can control is our mind. And our mind controls our actions.

That was a sobering read. I have a bad cold at the moment and have been quite stressed at work which is what brought upon the cold, I can actually feel the low vibration. 6. Very interesting… I have a split opinion about this topic. Ok, ready?

So first of all, you know that I firmly believe that we make our own reality. If we think something is bad, then it IS – not because “it” is bad but because in our mind we’ve made it that way.

I also believe that we create our own luck. If we land a job or make a good connection with someone or publish a book, it’s because of all the things we’ve done and set in motion in our lives.

We aren’t just some creature on a planet somewhere getting thrown around by fate!

Now here is the other side of my opinion. I think there is “luck” insofar as if someone buys a lottery ticket and wins a million bucks, that’s good damn luck! I don’t think there is anything you can do to wish yourself into a million dollars from a lottery ticket. That kind of thing is random, really, more than luck, so maybe that’s a different concept.

I also think there is such a thing as coincidence like let’s say you went on vacation to Jamaica and you met your old kindergarten teacher there. Ok, that would be some coincidence!

But again, I think that is more about randomness than about anything you can control.

So in reality, when it comes to your happiness and your outlook and the successes you have in life, a whole lot is about what you create for yourself. And I totally agree that you don’t have a successful blog, for example, just because you’re “lucky”. It’s no coincidence that one person did well and another didn’t. There are unforeseen circumstances and obstacles in life but our success depends on how me approach and handle those things.

    And that’s my 2 cents today πŸ™‚
Carol Lynn invites you to read..When Customers Attack: 5 Hair-Pulling Scenarios And How To Deal With Them GracefullyMy Profile

    1. Hi Carol,

And you know I always appreciate your two cents πŸ™‚

Ok, here is mine. For the lottery ticket, Yes, someone may win out of pure hazard (possible), but I have also known people who have will themselves into winning money from the lottery. Also, we don’t know what was in the mind of those who won at the time they chose their numbers. So, it may seem that it’s 100% “luck” but it’s really not. Maybe even they don’t know, but who knows what was there? What I am saying here, I’ve learned it from my own mentor, and my own experience tells me he’s right.

Now meeting your old kindergarten teacher on a vacation trip is also a false illusion of hazard and circumstances. This is why. When you meet someone at the same place at the same time, it’s because the same vibrations and thoughts down the line brought you there, both of you. It doesn’t have to be good or bad, many of such “circumstances” are totally neutral and indifferent, but they’re really not circumstances, it’s still the eternal law of attraction doing what it does 27/7.

Bottom line, if there is a minuscule space for luck, hazard and circumstances, it’s so small it might as well not exist. Some law of attraction teachers say that it really doesn’t exist at all.

I don’t know if this helps you understand what I mean or even if you agree with it at all, but that’s what I’ve learned over the past few years and have observed myself as well.

Thanks for your visit, Carol πŸ™‚

  9. Hi Sylviane,

    Wonderful post πŸ™‚

I’m really glad I met you πŸ™‚ I never knew a word about vibrations and law of attraction before. I’m thankful for you for explaining all stuff in very creatively πŸ™‚ That’s why I love to read your posts.

I have a doubt yet about luck Sylviane. Early of this year, in January, I engaged in a contest (First online contest) and I had to guess number of downloads that would be for a specific mobile application in March. I guessed, entered just because it’s one of my favorite applications and I had no idea of winning. It’s a global contest and never thought I’ll get any chance. But I got it πŸ™‚ 10 winners and I was one of ’em. Also I remember an contest in my childhood that I just applied with my friends and I got it. I never engaged in contests other than those two and I won both of ’em too. Also I have survived from big accidents with minor injuries in my life. I just called ’em luck, ’cause I have no idea. But I tend to believe it’s because of my positive attitude (Helping poors like that), and not someone controlling it. I just need to know what do you think about ’em πŸ™‚

I tend to achieve successful results from things I did with no expectations. Things I loved to do without expecting money or sort of materials. I love being rich, but in my own way working hard and smart. And I never thought they are luck and it’s obvious. I never wanted to get something for free unless I feel I deserve. I’ve got some opportunities recently too. But I just refuse. I don’t feel like accepting and if I did, I feel like I’m responsible without a reason. So I save ’em for someone useful. Money for a poor kid. Voucher for someone who needs it badly. I believe in giving more than getting eventhough I hurt sometimes. I don’t like to be under rules and that’s why I’m willing to earn with my own effort and build my life. I know it may seems kinda madness πŸ™‚ Is it bad to follow my intuition always? Jus’ let me know what do you think. Sorry, if I’m being too personal here Sylviane πŸ™‚

    Cheers…

Sorry for my so late reply to this comment of your that got lost in that lala land of comment moderation. Glad I found it dear, because it’s a beautiful comment.

OK, let me try to explain as I was explained a long time ago by my mentor, about what people call “change” or “luck”. Even if you had no idea or thought of winning, but you won anyway, it was probably because your vibrations were just right to win. Not that you expected to win, but your vibrations were upbeat, on the bright side of things, and you won because of that. This is a short explanation, but I will definitely write a whole post on the matter.

  10. I am sending some positive energy your way, returning some I have received from you when reading your posts and talking to you.

Although we now have concepts such as the Laws of Attraction and Reciprocity the principles behind them did exist before. Parts of them were taught in a piecemeal fashion using different terms. We now all have the opportunity to learn as long as we are willing and prepared to put in the effort. We have the capacity to change if we want it enough.

Everyone’s life comes with challenges and bad things do happen to us which are outside of our control. We can feel sorry for ourselves and wallow in negativity or move on and not let our past control our future happiness and success.

They say people can gain some sort of benefit from being a victim of life and I know a couple of people who are just like this. They use past bad experiences as an excuse to be dependent, irresponsible, and do as little as possible for themselves as they can. They always seem to find someone who will bail them out.
Sue Bride invites you to read..$8BucksTo500k Team BuildMy Profile

    1. Hi Sue,

I know what kind of people you are talking about. Usually people who are dependable tend to attract people who they can depend on to a certain point, but if those people disappear from their life for one reason or another they are in big trouble and that could even lead to suicide for such person.

That part of our life that we can control is because very few of us can totally dominate 100% of our subconscious, so yes, it’s true we can’t control everything, but if we know what we’re doing we can control most of it, even if life throws ugly things at us πŸ™‚

Thanks for your input, Sue πŸ™‚

  11. Hi Sylviane,

thanks for sharing your insights. Who will ever be able to understand the laws of the universe?

If we believe in luck, it’s an assumption of course, but so is the opposite.

The belief that the universe follows certain laws is an assumption and so is the opposite belief.

And either way, there are experts proving their assumption to you, pretty much like global warming. You can probably measure global warming, but will we ever be able to tell if it’s man-made or not?

As I don’t know it either, I am just asking myself: What does this assumption do to me? How do I feel harbouring this or that assumption?

If I believe in man-made global warming, I might not travel by plane and miss out on a lot of fun. If I travel by plane despite my belief, I will feel guilty or find a reason to excuse myself.

How does this apply to the topic of your post?

Well, if I believe that everything is luck and accidental, I will feel just as frustrated as a believer in the law of attraction who “fails” over and over and can’t get it going for him. I feel either as a victim of circumstances or as not being good enough because I don’t get get it (the LOA)

And consider this: Both beliefs drive billion-$-businesses. The business of luck is the lottery and Las Vegas. The business of the LOA is the business of modern Pied Pipers.

The best part is: I don’t have to believe anything. A friend recently asked me if there’s anything I still believe in…and I said “No.” and felt like a fool. Then it dawned on me: Not believing anything is freedom! And I started enjoying it.

    Thanks for sharing your insights.

    Best,

    Oliver

    1. Hi Olvier,

Ah I can trust that you will always give one of the most intriguing comments, and you are never leaving comments that just agree blindly for sure:)

Well, here is my answer. I do not just believe in something because I’m told to. I used to belong to a strong belief religion for 10 years and I tried my best, but in the end they couldn’t sell me.

I don’t believe in the LOA or other laws of the universe just because…. I believe it based on what I personally and other close people close to me experienced in relation to it.

Yes, I do believe 110% that what you believe about yourself is what you are going to get in life. I even know someone who willed himself to death and other to a mental disease. I can’t tell the whole story here, but such cases are real and they were the law of attraction at work full blown!!!

I’ve seen the law of attraction working on my life way, way before I knew what it was, and what a relief it was to finally understand it. I was like having an undiagnosed disease for years until someone finally told me what you’d be suffering from.

The reason why just the knowledge of the LOA and success don’t match in a lot of cases is that the person as not been able to reprogram their subconscious mind. As long as you don’t do that… knowledge itself is not sufficient to succeed.

Thank you for your input, Oliver πŸ™‚

  12. Wasn’t it Einstein that said, “God doesn’t play dice?”

I don’t believe in coincidence or “luck”, but I do believe in energy and the power of thought vibrations. Along with this there is also the issue of “karma” or the energy with which a personality brings into this lifetime and has to work through. All the positive thinking in the world will not alter the already established energetic pattern that has been set into motion. However, by and large we do create our own realities and do attract events and individuals that resonate with us. Change your mind, change your life.
Liz invites you to read..How To Buy The Best Princess Cut Diamonds OnlineMy Profile

    1. Hi Liz,

Of course, I never, ever, try to convince people of anything that they are not ready to accept yet. That would be useless.

You do contradict yourself in your comment, though. First you are saying that we can’t do anything to better our life and towards the end you are saying that we do create our own reality. So which one do your believe in?

Karma is part of the law of attraction, so the fact that Karma does exist has nothing to do with not being able to change your vibrations and attract more positive thing into your life.

  13. Thanks for this insightful share, Sylviane. I feel we believe in luck or co incidence just as an escape to put all the burden of our failures and disappointments. We need something or the other to blame and blaming our bad luck is the easiest thing to do. We are born to act, and life didn’t come with any guidelines. We make mistakes due to our actions and we suffer and learn from them. I love this quote by Paulo Coelho β€œWhat’s the world’s greatest lie?… It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate.”

  14. Hi Sylviane,
Nice post as always. I always heard the saying (while growing up) that “Luck is hard work that is unseen by others”… But i do agree with Carol above that winning a lottery ticket is luck and one cannot do much hard work(other than the LOA, ofcourse)…
A few months ago, my husband made some investments. Now each time one invests money one believes that it is going to double or triple etc. No one wishes a bad investment. A few month later, the person to whom my hubby had entrusted this sum of money said that ‘things went wrong’ and bad luck struck him. The result: a loss of hundreds of thousands of rupees. What should one call such episodes, if not bad luck?

    1. Hi Dipa, I really appreciate your input here and will try to give you an answer that makes sense to you and others reading this.

First, as I replied to Carol, it is even possible to use the law of attraction to win the lottery. While I’ve never done it myself, I’ve heard of people who did and I know some people who just played with thoughts of winning and actually won a lot of times, even though not necessarily lots of money at once.

Now, when someone says “he’s been struck by bad luck”, what has been in his mind lately? Maybe he was very negative about things, full of fears, anxiety, negativity, you name it…then, those people come to you saying it was bad luck!

You see, when I hear that, I tend to seriously doubt it, but if the person was all positive thoughts and emotions, according to the law of attraction and other related laws of the Universe it would be almost impossible for this person to be ‘unlucky’ as they call it. That’s the law. If you bring about bad stuff to you, it’s usually because of your mind set. But people call this bad luck. Now, it’s not always, conscious, of course, but as we know the subconscious is what is powerful.

Hope this help you understand this point better.

  15. Before, I actually believe that there are such things as coincidences and bad luck. Mostly I believed that because I believe in karma. But of course, these beliefs of mine are really temporary and the longer I believe in these things, I know that I will always be a skeptic or pessimist in whatever happens in my life.

Thanks for sharing this interesting post, Sylviane!
