Are You In Alignment With Success?

How can you tell if you in alignment with success or not?

I’ve got that question a lot.  How do I know if I am in alignment with success or not?  While there might not be any quick and easy answer to this question, there is a way to figure it out for yourself as long as you know what to look for.

In this post I am going to show you what to look for to check if you are in alignment with the successful life that you are asking for.

First you Need to Check in what Kind of Water you are Swimming

What does that mean?  In her eBook Deliberate Receiving, my fellow personal development coach and blogger, Melody Fletcher, gives a very good metaphor about finding out in what kind of water you are swimming.  She is giving the example of a frog that would be put in a pot of warm water and slowing brought to a boil.  Even though that frog could jump out of the water, it doesn’t.  Why?

Because the water is warmed up gradually, and even though it turns out to be a dangerous, even deadly boiling water, by the time the frog would realize that it would be too late.  The only way the frog would jump out of the water is if the water went from cold to very hot suddenly, but because it’s done gradually, the frog never jumps.

A lot of people are figuratively swimming in warm water that is getting hotter and hotter without them realizing it. They are not realizing it because it’s done gradually, it stated from as long they memory goes.

They live a life of none satisfaction at all levels.   They hate their job, they hate their relationship, they feel stuck, they get depressed and sick and live on medication.  Like that frog they have been swimming in that warm water that’s getting to a dangerous boil, but they don’t realize it, and therefore, don’t even think about getting out of it.  They think that living this way is “normal”.

Do you know people like that? Do you feel that this may even sound like you?  If yes, then keep on reading.

Take an Assessment of your Life

Take an assessment of where you are in your life. If you are swimming in warm water, it’s a sign that you need to get out as soon as possible while it’s not too late, and still have time to act before it gets to paralyzing boil.

The best way to take an assessment about how aligned or not you are with your goals is by watching what is happening to you.

I know that in my case, at one point in my life, if I’d stopped and watched what was happening to me this would have been a loud sounding alarm that I was swimming in extremely hot water and that it was time to get out of there.  Fortunately I did, but only because I took an assessment of my life.  However, it did take me a while.

For example, let me give you some real life story situations that I have heard many times over the last couple of years.  “I had a job interview, but my car broke down and couldn’t make it”, “I was supposed to go on that trip, but I got sick and couldn’t make it”, “I was supposed to get promoted, but ‘something’ came up and it never happened”, “I always seem to pick Mr/Mrs Wrong”, and the list goes on.

Do you think that those people are just unlucky? Well, that’s the word people like to use for lack of a better explanation, but frankly, any personal development coach would tell you that they there is a much better one.  This is called “self sabotage”, and while no one in their right mind would sabotage themselves willingly or consciously, we do it from a subconscious level.  You do it when you are not in alignment with your ‘successful you”.

What does Being in Alignment Means?

The successful YOU is there, it’s always been there since the day you were conceived.  The very forces of nature that created you are always successful.  There is NO lack in the forces of the universe.  However, when you are not in alignment with the higher YOU it creates a disconnect, an unbalance.  Such unbalance leads to all kind of mishaps that prevent us to move forward, to succeed and bring about what we like to call “lack of luck” so we are not responsible for them.  However, here is a flash news; when you start taking responsibility for everything that happens to you, good or bad, it’s very empowering and it’s the beginning of you putting yourself in alignment with success.

When you feel that you are so “unlucky”, and that bad things happen to you as you lay there powerless, you become a victim and victims are powerless.  Taking responsibility for your stretch of “bad luck” put you in control and you can start asking yourself, what can “I” do to change that?

Only when you get to that place of consciousness can you start to learn how to put yourself in alignment with who you want to be.

Use your Emotions as a Measuring Stick

When I talk about alignment, a lot of people get intimidated by this word. Alignment, wow! What the heck is that?

What alignment means is being on the same level of what you want to have or be at an emotional and spiritual level.  What this really means is that when you have not brought about what you want into your physical world is because you haven’t reached the emotional and spiritual level needed to do so.  Putting yourself in alignment means that you are going to reach the emotional and spiritual level of that of what you want to be.

Let me give you a very simple and easy to understand example.  Let’s say you want to make around 100,000 a year, but most of the time you feel broke, all your thoughts are based on how much money you are lacking to do this or that.  You spend a lot of time worrying about your bills, and even the ones you don’t have yet.  This brings down your emotional level, your vibrations, and your whole spirit.  This means that you are not at the emotional and spiritual leveled to that of the person that makes that kind of money.  In other words, you are not vibrating at 100,000 right now; you are vibrating at what you are making.

Before you can expect to increase your income (in this case) you would have to put yourself in alignment with such income.  In order to do this, you have to use your emotions as a measuring stick as I mentioned above.  Raise your emotions and vibrations levels, and you will be able to raise your income.

I know you are going to say, easier said than done!  But I will tell you that it’s all a matter of knowing and applying, and yes, it can be done. People do it everyday!

    1. Hi Tracey,

I’m glad you enjoyed the post.

Yes, the frog is a great analogy, isn’t it? As Melody Fletcher mentions in her book there are many people swimming in warm and hot water. The only thing we can hope for such people is that they wake up and start taking action.

  1. Sadly I think I fall into the trap of self sabotage quite often. My dedication to my work, training police dogs and taking care of Soldiers, often leaves me with the excuse not to build my business the way I know that I should be. I often find myself putting of writing or commenting using the excuse that I need a break because of how long my days typically are. Of course when I started this whole adventure I was working longer hours so my excuse isn’t really valid. Time to create another challenge and overcome that mindset.

    1. Hi Clint,

How interesting that I was just at your blog few minutes ago.

Believe me I do understand self-sabotage, because I had such a huge deal of that problem myself. Self sabotage comes from our inner programming also known as our subconscious mind, and it’s not easy to get that “truned off” so to speak, but the good news is that it is possible and people do it every day with the help of the right education, of course.

I am sure that if you put your mind to it, you can get over this eventually. Once you do, you feel free and powerful!

Thanks for coming by, Clint 🙂

  2. Hi Sylviane
This is a great post. I have spent most of my life around personal development of many types so it is difficult for me to understand there are still many people who have victim mentality but of course there is.
Having said that I can at times still struggle a little to keep myself in alignment with what I want. When I first came online I was technophobic so I really found it difficult to think of myself as a successful online marketer 🙂
I am a follower of Esther Hicks and messages from Abraham. I love their analogies of alignment.
    I love your blog

    1. Hi Sue,

I am very happy that you like my blog. I am passionate with personal development and I don’t even know how one can live without it. I am also a follower of Esther Hicks, really love what she does.

I am glad to hear that you have been involved with personal development for a long time, and I know that when you are it’s hard to understand how some people can still make some basic thinking fatal mistakes such as “thinking as a victim”, but as you are saying, unfortunately, they do. Hopefully more and more people will come around.

Thanks for passing by, Sue 🙂

  3. Hi Sylviane,

interesting insights. When reading this post, I kept asking myself the question how we know if we are in alignment or not. And my answer is like yours: Our emotions are a good gauge to tell that !

However, we shouldn’t take our thoughts for emotions…thoughts can be very emotionalized (like a bunch of monkeys) but they’re not yet emotions. Thoughts try to tell us a story about our emotions, so feeling good might actually just be thinking good which is not the same, is it ? Only when we stop listening to this story we have the the chance to truly feel our emotions and the feedback they give us.

    Thanks for sharing your insights.

    Take care

    Oliver

    1. Hi Oliver,

Yes, the measuring stick, or the barometer of our alignment is our emotion. Then, obviously if we feel good that means that our thoughts are positive, however, when we feel bad our thoughts are most certainly negative. Basically, our feelings are telling us where our thoughts are.

Even in the Bible it says that the action of a man starts in his thoughts. Think about something long enough and you will act upon such thought, good or bad. By correcting them, you will act according to your new thoughts.

Thanks for your feedbacks and insights, Olvier, as always 🙂

  4. You’re right Sylviane, this was along the same lines as what I shared today. Great minds think a like.

I’ll be honest, I think the reason I had a difficult time with this was because I didn’t understand how this really worked. People would say, act as if you have that kind of money but I didn’t know how to act. I couldn’t change my life and start acting that way because my current circumstances didn’t reflect it yet.

So I took the advice of my friend and just wrote down what I want my life to be like and I just put those emotions out daily. I don’t kill myself over it or beat myself up but things are happening. Oh yeah!!! It’s ALL headed my way.

Loved this post and I love this topic. If anyone wants coaching on this Sylviane is your woman. She really knows her stuff. You can’t go wrong working with her.

Have a wonderful day young lady.

    1. Hi Adrienne,

Thank you for the compliment, Adrienne! I am glad that your coach friend told you to do basically what I was mentioning in my last post and other posts previous 🙂

Yes, my coaching is growing, because I am growing inside. I am getting more and more insight as I go. Yesterday I was on Oliver’s blog where he was saying how some gurus would want you to believe that if you buy their “fit all” program you’re life will change and I agree that this is not so.

You see, a coach is taking one case at the time. Everyone is different and every case is different. There is no fit all! I compare it to a diet. It’s not because a diet will work for you that it will for for me, but we do know what the bad foods are and what the good foods are. That’s the same thing with coaching.

Thank you for your feedback and support, Adrienne. Really appreciate it 🙂

  5. Hi Sylviane,

Absolutely it can be done dear 🙂 I believe it. All we need to do is not just appreciating advice we get, but applying what we read and hear. The problem is, do we? 🙂

We need to believe in ourselves and as you implied vibrations and emotional levels matters. Personally I had no idea of being much successive and holding big dreams. One reason was I wasn’t taking responsibility. No I didn’t blame it but I just avoid ’em from my life.

But now I started my first project and I’m successfully doing it. I feel the confidence it builds and you will never know until you start doing that. right? 🙂 We are the main reason for our fail or success but no one else.

Great post Sylviane 🙂 You are learning people how to success and I believe people follow your advices and start achieving their own success…

    Cheers…

  6. Hi, Sylviane

I do know people that fall into that “victim category”
And it doesn’t look appealing at all, not the mindset you need to get anywhere.
    ….

“First you Need to Check in what Kind of Water you are Swimming”

Not sure why I’m admitting this, but I can not swim. So I’m not sure how I fair.

That being said I don’t believe in “Luck”, we get out what we put in. I don’t make excuses for my imperfections or my abilities.

Life is to short – I dream it, I make it happen (most of the time)
Simmeon invites you to read..Which Is Better Guest Blogging or Blog Commenting? My Profile

    1. Hi Simmeon,

Ahaha, well, literally being able to swimming or not is not the problem is it?

You are right, there is no such thing as luck and you make your life as you want it to be, really.

However, the “life is short thing” also comes from a limited belief, there is more to life than meets then meets the eyes.

Thank you for your feedback and see you here again.

  7. I think if there is any “secret” to success, this is it. It’s so important to align yourself, as you said, with what you want or you could just end up sabotaging yourself without knowing it. A friend of mine says he always surrounds himself with successful people – they may be smarter than him or wealthier than him but that’s where he wants to be so that’s how he “aligns” himself.

I like your analogy to swimming in warm water. It’s so true – things sneak up on us when we’re not expecting them and we get used to them a little at a time until one day we look around and think, “how the heck did this happen??” So important to take mental stock of where you are and whether you’re moving toward better waters!

    1. Hi Carol,

Your friend is doing the right thing. If you want to be successful try to surround yourself with people who are at the level you want to be. I think that there is nothing more depressing than wanting to be successful and being surrounded by poor mentality people. Believe me I know what I’m talking about, that happened to me.

You’re right, you hear people say that all the time. How did it get that way? It’s because they had not noticed what was happening life the frog being cooked slowly.

Thank you for your great feedbacks, Carol, as always 🙂

  8. Sylviane,

I was brought here by your post on Melody’s blog. So you are trilingual? This is unheard of in the part of the country I live. good for you! that is wonderful!

Thank you for this post on alignment. I have always had trouble with this term and your explanation and examples are most helpful. We have to “be” in our heart and mind before it, whatever we want, manifests, as I understand it.

One more thing about the things that happen to us. Sometimes being fired from a job is a good thing, forcing you to pursue what you really want instead of wasting energy on something you really do not and are just there to pay the bills. In this case, no need to grieve or lament, just finally align with what it is we really want.

Also, the people we hang out with is of utmost importance. If you do not vibe with your present company, it is best to do yourself the favor and find those who you do vibe with, rather than settling or even lowering your vibe with those who are not suitable.

    1. Hi Kat,

How glad I am that you found me though Melody’s blog. By the way an interview of Melody is soon to be the subject of a post here 🙂 So, keep checking 🙂

Yes, I am trilingual, I speak French which is my mother tongue, then comes English and third Spanish. I have worked on and off as a freelance interpreter for the past 12 years, but that doesn’t pay as much as it should.

I am glad if I could clarify what alignment is for you, I know that it’s not easy to understand, but it really is an easy process, when you do understand it.

You are so right, sometimes being fired from a job, just puts you were you needed to be in the first place, but out of fear you would have never quit. The people you hang out with can really make you or break you in a way, so it’s most definitely important to choose who you want to hang out with!

Thanks for your valuable feedbacks, Kat 🙂

  9. Hi Sylviane, very insightful post. i find it is hard sometimes to assess where I stand in my life, maybe I just go with the flow as they say… Anyway, finding where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do took me long time, but what was most important was being at peace with myself and not regret the experiences that I’ve had in my life.

    1. Hi Mariella,

Being at peace with yourself is so very important.

I have some very close family members that have spent there whole life not being at peace with themselves and it really took its toll on them. It can be pretty bad. It affects you first emotionally and than physically. You don’t want to go there, it’s a pretty ugly and dangerous place. I’m not kidding!

  10. BRAVO Sylviane!
You have created a masterpiece here. The analogy of the frog says it all. I think the majority of people have the mindset that they are in that warm water at a standstill. They are fearful of making that leap (pardon the pun)

I know many people like you explained above that “self sabotage” themselves. But once they can realize this, they have that opportunity to switch and make a change. From there, they can learn how to open up to different energies.

Alignment with success in anything in one’s life is possible. The person has to be willing and that is all it takes for them to open up to different modalities of how to do it.

I, myself have many different techniques I use when I find myself floundering. We have to have that spiritual connection in order to make it work.

Keep on writing my friend, you never know who you will touch and enlighten..

Thanks for the great explanation of how this works,

    1. Hi Donna, Thank you so much for the compliment and the encouragement to keep writing.

I didn’t want to take credit for that frog example, so that’s why I mentioned that this illustration was from Melody Fletcher which by the way I just interviewed and the interview will be posted tomorrow.

Take care, Donna and thank you for your feedbacks.

  11. Hi Sylviane,
I remember that I have been into that kind of situation, “in warm water”, many times before in the past and when I come to realize it, it’s kind of too late.

“You spend a lot of time worrying about your bills, and even the ones you don’t have yet.” – I strongly agree! It’s a common worry for those who are in charge of managing the bills at home – and it comes to a point that even those that haven’t arrived yet sends a worrisome feeling to me.
